I teach yoga & mindfulness to kids in this age group and am always looking for new ideas. Maura has put together a wealth of her knowledge in this book in clear, easy to follow instructions with all the little extras that are important. I love the write & reflect, did you know & go deeper snippets at the end of each exercise. I love the quotes in between chapters! The illustrations are super sweet. It’s easy to understand and walk them through the exercises - which really are super simple! I tried them for myself and found it to have a big impact on how I was feeling as well! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Shantel Sonier -- A Geaux-to Resource : As a certified kids yoga teacher, I strongly believe in giving children a toolbox to help them navigate life challenges. Teaching them mindfulness is one of the great tools we can add and carry in that toolbox. It’s also a way to teach a lifestyle of gratitude. And living with gratitude can enhance the good days and mitigate the rough ones. So this book is a fantastic tool. Children can randomly open the book and pick an exercise or find an exercise to match how they are feeling based on the book’s setup. My favorite exercises, which are tapping, body scanning and reframing, are included in the Mindfulness at Night section. ~ Many of the mindfulness practices in the book do begin with setting a timer to stick with the theme of 10 minutes a day. I also like to incorporate alternatives , such as counting on fingers or thinking about which tasks fit in a timeframe (bus is scheduled to arrive in 10 minutes). ~ This book can be used individually, but it’s also a terrific way for parents, caregivers and educators to create and weave mindfulness practices in their schedules and routines with the kids, making this book a geaux-to resource.
